What is agriculture?

Can be defined simply as growing food crops in subsistence or commercial quantities.

Unless you are actively involved in the industry, few people will make the connection between agriculture and science. However, SCIENCE is exactly what it is, science applied to generation of plants and livestock. The more science applied, in terms of soil nutrients, pest resistance, crop selection and care, the better the end results will be. If agriculture in a country is strong, it reduces the dependence of the nation on imported food.

History?

AGRI-science is an ancient technology, dating back to Egyptian civilization where pests and famine were of such proportion to be written into the Bible! The best technology of the time had to be applied to storage of grain, for times of shortage. Technology has come a long way since then, and food storage is no longer solely in large silos but rather in temperature controlled refrigerators in every home.

Agriculture has played a key role in development of large societies. In the past, food surpluses created by agriculture allowed cities to be developed. Farmers provide the raw materials of over 90% of our diet. However, large scale commercial farming is not without its drawbacks. Profit driven farming companies have neglected human health and environmental concerns for too long, focusing instead on producing pounds of food to take to market in the shortest time possible. This has led to overuse of synthetic pesticides in plants, antibiotics and hormones in meat production and pollution of water with excess fertilizers. The existing alternative is typically buying food labelled as “organic” in the grocery stores which is more expensive, and may not even be true.

What REMco is offering is the service of applying the best available innovations in agricultural technology to anyone with the space and the will to make a change to this paradigm. We provide labor, technology and marketing of produce, leaving property owners with the resources of food and cash returns. In addition, the property owners have the peace of mind of knowing that their food has been sustainable produced, with environmental considerations taken. A wide selection of crop options makes even a small allotment of land a tenable option for farming. Depending on property owner risk tolerance, land type and space, container farming is also an option.

Container farms are essentially a food manufacturing plant, with all the variables for growing crops within them contained. There is no problem of flood, drought, insects, vermin under the strict controlled environment in a container farm. The upfront cost of installation is reasonable considering the quick return on investment. Container farms are merely one example of the improvements of technology that can make farming more modular, advanced, and make You the consumer, more aware of what you consume.

REMco will provide our farmers who will make your agricultural visions a reality!
